A space anomaly send Bashir and Kira, returning from a mission to Deep Space Nine, hurling out of control and crashing on an unknown, and apparently, uninhabited planet. Their runabout is all but destroyed, and all their tools and weapons are mysteriously drained of power. Using all their skills and whatever tools they can make, the two work to survive until help can arrive. The onset of winter forces them to move their camp. As they set out, a strange voice directs Bashir to change their direction from west to east. Is the voice directing them in the right direction toward safety, or is it leading them to their death?
