Blues All Starfleet personnel wear uniforms. In equaing modern with minimal, these uniforms, in use from 2270 until 2275, were designed to be pared down and sleek. Lightweight, they were temperature-designed to keep the wearer cool enough and warm enough. Uniform of this era were designed to allow the personnel to select their own tunic style, thereby expressing more individuality than previous uniforms allowed. Blues are the uniform of the command and senior officers aboard starships and starbases. |

Golds Most junior bridge officers, especially those not on the command track, wore the golds. The attitude at Starfleet was to allow its personnel more latitude in what to wear. Not everyone had to wear the same uniform on a given day. Certainly during ceremonial occasions, crew would be requested to wear class A or even their dress uniforms. But any given day, personnel could show up in their Class B or Class C uniforms, if they so desired. This attitude at Starfleet Command only lasted a brief time before more militaristic uniforms were again used by Starfleet personnel. |

Greys Greys were usually worn by higher fleet officers (such as admirals) and their staff. The soft shoes of these uniforms matched the pants of the uniforms and were secured to the pants' legs. Each duty uniform (Class A-C) has on them a perscan device. This device keeps the vital readings of an individual and records them with the ship's medical computer. If a crew member is incapacitated, the computer will notify medical personnel immediately. Sadly, the devices are prone to damage, especially during evasive maneuvers. |

Tans Jumpsuits of the uniforms of this era actually had pockets, a rarity for Starfleet uniforms prior to this. The leisure wear of this wear resembled a jacket more than anything else, and was more often than not discarded rather than used by the crew. The physicial training wear was designed to be comfortable and functional during exercise and other similar regimens. Tans were worn by support services personnel. |

Whites This color of uniform was reserved for medical personnel, life sciences and even scientists with advanced degrees. A doctorate-level warp specialist in engineering could be found wearing white, along with the chief medical officer and the entire sickbay staff, and even a "lowly" life support officer on the bridge. The epaulets on the shoulders replace the ranks on the sleeve on some uniforms. (See below for more information.) |

Engineering Although life support belts had been practically abandoned by 2270 due to power failures resulting in the death of personnel, Starfleet engineers still employ a life support collar with their uniforms, affording them some protection from radiation and life support during coolant leaks. |
